Coast residents are now asking questions about signatures that were shared on social media by Nyali member of parliament Mohammed Ali after public outcry that the current Mvita MP Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir failed to sign the petition seeking to impeach transport cabinet secretary James machaira.
The list that contains 90 and peas missed the name of outspoken MP from the coastal city who has been at the forefront fighting for the growth of the coastal development hub.
In what surprised many the MP failed to sign the petition revealing his other side about the matter of transportation of cargo goods from Mombasa to the Naivasha ICD.
In his letter, Mohammed Ali claimed that the transport cabinet secretary violated the constitution and the order to use the SGR to transport goods.
“Pursuant to Article 152 (6) of the Constitution, a Member of the National Assembly, supported by at least one-quarter of all the members of the National Assembly, may propose a motion requiring the President to dismiss a Cabinet Secretary on the ground of a gross violation of a provision of the Constitution or of any other law or where there are serious reasons for believing that the Cabinet Secretary has committed a crime under national or international law; or for gross misconduct,” the clause reads in part.
In a press conference last month the cabinet secretary announced that all cargo destined for Uganda Rwanda and South Sudan will be transported via the SGR for clearance at the Naivasha inland container depot, a move that commenced on June 1st.
This was meant to reduce interactions along the northern corridor to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
In what now seems to be a war of parties allied to the president against the deputy president the Mombasa town MP who is a member of the orange democratic movement party declined to sign the petition seeking the removal of James machaira from the transport docket.
Minority whip in the national assembly who doubles up as the Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed said that the motion was a joke and that the podium party would not support such malice brought forward by the tanga-tanga cheerleaders.
However, when is party Muhammad Ali said that the transport cabinet secretary has been involved in various scandals that have seen the taxpayers money get lost in broad daylight something that is against the Kenyan constitution.
